31. Truth

Beware of finding the truth

Without a burning desire

On those who failed, have ruth

It is a play with fire

Until you know who you are

The truth about you would hurt

What appears close is too far

Embracing reality is discomfort

We want good things said about us

Even if they are untrue

Criticism is like an onus

Truth is not what we pursue

We stick to a strong opinion

Veil the truth from our self

Befriend falsehood as companion

Unable to answer conscience itself

The stubbornness to our notions

With anger, fear, guilt and shame

A plethora of such emotions

All because we lose to truth’s game

We escape but run in the same cage

Avoiding the real in several ways

It requires composure and courage

To face the truth and stop the chase
